What Participants Say

“Participating in the Karuna training awakened a deeper understanding of compassion as both a personal practice and a collective practice. I learned that compassion is the alchemy that transforms suffering, yet its greatest systemic enemy is the perpetuation of violence. As a therapist, I often use the fight-flight framework to help clients regulate, but today a new concept emerged—what if we approached personal and communal suffering through the lens of compassion? Nathan's teachings, infused with insights from Ruth King and Resmaa Menakem, left me grounded and inspired to embody compassion as a pathway to healing and justice.”

Series participant: Freedom Through Heart Practices

“I loved the sessions. Nathan is a great teacher/leader. I never thought I could meditate or be able to focus more, ever, but here I am, thanks to the sessions. I also love how Nathan tied mindfulness to inclusion and equity, quite an innovative and effective strategy. I appreciate his methodical approach and could sense that he has extensive experience doing this. I highly recommend this course and will share with my staff”

Niry, series participant: Mindful Leadership Foundations for Equity and Belonging

“It was very calming! The host was empathetic and it seemed like he was only talking to me 1/1 not a big class!”

Series participant: Mindfulness with Compassion

“It really increases the probability that I will take time out of my day to do a bit of self-care!”

Series participant: Mindfulness with Compassion

“I love the reminder that Mr. Baptiste gives us that returning the wandering mind IS the practice.”

Nathan Baptiste, mindfulness instructor and leadership development specialist

Certified mindfulness meditation instructor and leadership development specialist, with 25+ years of personal practice. I support leaders, professionals, and caretakers who give so much of themselves to others in building calm, clarity, and connection into how they lead and live.

My framework, the C.A.L.M. Method, makes mindfulness practical for the pace of real work and real life, with compassion, especially self-compassion, at its center. Equity and belonging are part of what a genuinely well workplace looks like, and that value runs through every program I design.

Previously Diversity Program Manager at Oregon Metro and Director of Inclusion & Multicultural Engagement at Lewis & Clark College.
